Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent to już czwarty odcinek serii poświęconej agentowi Samowi Fisherowi. Tym razem jednak wydawać się może, że zło wzięło górę nad dobrem. Tradycyjnie grę wyprodukowała i wydała firma UbiSoft.

Akcja Splinter Cell: Double Agent umiejscowiona została w 2008 roku – dwanaście miesięcy po wydarzeniach opowiedzianych w poprzedniczce, noszącej podtytuł Chaos Theory. Główny bohater, Sam Fisher, uległ niezwykłej transformacji. Z prawego człowieka i tajnego agenta starającego się, by na świecie panowało jedynie dobro, zmienił się w ogolonego na łyso złoczyńcę odsiadującego dwudziestoletni wyrok. Jednak cała ta sytuacja to tylko niezwykle udana mistyfikacja. Mianowicie, Sam został podwójnym agentem, mającym rozpracować groźną grupę terrorystyczną. W tym celu przeniknie do wewnętrznych struktur szajki i postara się „rozsadzić” ją właśnie z tejże perspektywy.

W zadaniach Samowi pomaga m.in. Jamie Washington, członek grupy terrorystycznej John Brown's Army, a jednocześnie więzień. Za pośrednictwem Jamiego poznaje on szereg ciekawych osobistości, m.in. szefa John Brown's Army Emile’a Dufraisne’a oraz szalonego chemika Enricę Villablanca, a także zapoznaje z całym systemem i podziałem ról panującym w szajce. Jak przystało na prawdziwego podwójnego agenta Sam, oprócz misji powiązanych z gangiem, wykonuje również te narzucone bezpośrednio przez organizację Third Echelon. Wybory jakich dokonuje wpływają automatycznie na fabułę i na to, które z kilku zakończeń ujrzymy po zaliczeniu ostatniego scenariusza. Zadania rozgrywane są w najprzeróżniejszych lokacjach rozmieszczonych m.in. w Afryce, Azji i Stanach Zjednoczonych. Autorzy przygotowali szereg nowych misji, że wspomnę chociażby o tych rozgrywanych pod wodą, czy też w trakcie potężnej burzy piaskowej. Sam wyposażony został w szereg nowych ruchów, rodzajów broni i akcesoriów (w tym charakterystycznych dla organizacji przestępczych).

Splinter Cell: Double Agent powstał w oparciu o silnik graficzny znany z poprzedniej edycji. Autorzy postarali się co prawda o dodanie kilku nowych filtrów graficznych oraz podbicie jakości tekstur pokrywających otoczenie i postaci, lecz zmiany nie są zbyt wielkie. Zwiększono jednak dynamizm rozgrywki oraz postawiono na jak najbardziej realne odtworzenie otaczającego nas świata. Programiści z UbiSoft wykorzystali w sposób zadowalający infrastrukturę sieciową, przez co gracze z całego świata mogą uczestniczyć w starciach w trybach kooperacji, jak i tych bardziej klasycznych spod znaku Deathmatch i Capture the Flag.
